These buttons have a slighly different thing that they do:

difference run and save-run

  1. Save and run first saves what is on the screen and the runs the query.
  2. Run will just run it

So what's the difference?

  • If you have changed the wiring in the query, then you should save and run, because the wiring that you can drag around isn't stored yet.
  • If you have saved the query before and have only changed the configuration of a specific part, then Run is enough

When in doubt, save-and-run
