2sxc (2Sexy Content) has one primary goal: Empower Content-Editors to create Great Content. Because of this, it differentiates between Developers, Content Designers and Content Editors. Here's the difference:

  • Developers are people who add logic and code to the system.
You must be a host user to do this.
  • Content Designers are web designers with HTML, JS, DotNetNuke and other know-how. They create and design the elements inside 2sxc. Content Designers must configure technical stuff inside 2sxc.
You must be an admin user, or better yet a host user to do this.
  • Content Editors are people that use pre-configured 2sxc to create pages with great content. These people don't understand the internals, and should not access the technical stuff. To make their experience easier, 2sxc actually hides the technical stuff from Content Editors.
Usually you must be an admin user for this, but with special configuration more restricted users will also work.

In many cases you want to make your content editors be administrators, but then they may see too many options. In that case you can always differentiate using the 2sxc Designers role.
